How many demonstrations did they do on how to start a door step bible study? They would go out and read out of the book they were offering and call that a bible study and yet how many of those they classified as a bible study did they get back in contact for the second one? Very few. I would never believe the numbers they are giving out because I will bet most won't answer their doors or phones when they call on them. If they were having such success they would be bringing in a large amount of people and they are not.

I'm out- Random thoughts on leaving as I look in the rear view mirror
by Skinnedsheep init is amazing to look back at three years and see the journey that we have taken.
i went from being an elder to fading completely in the course of those three years.
along the way i am happy to say that my lovely wife woke up and realized that the truth is nothing but a lie.

Great story, I can relate to everything you said because it is very simular to ours. Isn't it amazing that they drive around for hours trying to find someone to talk to yet they can't check up on their own because they can't count the time. I have always had a problem With this. It sure doesn't promote brotherly love.
It is great you got your wife and children out with you, your children will thank you someday for freeing them of this so called religion. I was able to get my husband out too and our life is so much happier. We faded 2 years ago but a week ago I sent in my DA letter because I needed to have closure and tell them exactly how I felt about them because I did not want my name tied to them.

What happy, wonderful thing happened to you since you left the "truth"?
by Jeannette inmore than one thing for me, but i have learned to enjoy festivals, and just enjoying free time.
it's not that the org wouldn't allow it, i just felt i shouldn't.
there are others, of course, and i really have been happier and good things have come my way since i left.

BU2B my life was falling apart while I was in!! My life is so happy now and life is truly great. I think it is what you make of it and when all you hear is negative talk about how awful "this system" is then of course you will not be happy. It takes courage to walk away and start a new life but I can honestly say it is worth it. I just wish I would have done it sooner.

My husband and I came out together so we have been able to do more traveling which we enjoy but always had to worry about what others would say if we missed too many meetings. I started bowling with a very nice group of women. My husband use to play guitars and write songs and had put it down for years because he was an elder and involved in the KH building projects so he joined a couple of groups that play music. Most of the guys in the group are around his age and he has made some really nice friendships. He has written some new songs and presented one to a guy looking for new songs to publish. He started playing racketball with a group of guys and he enjoys that.
The best thing that happened to me, I was able to get much closer to my family and spend holidays with them and do fun things together. I see the joy and happiness on my parents faces whenever I am with them and that brings me so much happiness. I am so thankful I have such a close relationship with them now that I am out of the cult because being in fractured it.

Curious..What advice will you receive, religious marriage counsel vs certified marriage counsel ?
by jam infor example, abusiveness in the relationship.
us here were counsel by someone affiliated with some religion.
organization, a minister..most likely you were told, to pray on it... but if the husband is beating the living day-light out of his wife,.

Jam, I am sorry your sister had to live that way. So many women don't know how to walk away and it makes it even harder when you have the elders instructing you to stay and that it is your fault. Many ministers have training and education to learn how to help their people but not the JW's. That is why these men can be so dangerous to others because they are giving them instructions that can harm them.

Thanks Jam, I feel so fortunate I have him because when I told him my doubts he was willing to read COC and we walked away together. Our marriage even when we were JW's was an equal one and he never lorded it over me. I am so strong willed that I would never have put up with it.

A therapist with a degree in psycology will never tell you to stay with an abuse mate nore will they tell you to hit them with a frying pan. They will help you get stronger so you can make a wise decision and if he is abusive they will encourage you to find a safe place or even help you find a shelter.
When I was a JW I would never have trusted an elder with any type of marriage therapy. We went to a therapist because I was so depressed and my husband wanted to make sure we got the help we needed and what it did for us changed our life for the better. It helped me to get much stronger and I was able to say what I thought of the religion and we both left together with a strong marriage of 32 years intact.
There are many great therapists out there but it is like anything else, sometimes you have to check out a few before you find someone who is willing to do the work with you.

Welcome! Your English is very good. We look forward to hearing more from you. You will find the more research you do the more courage you will have to make healthy life choices. I founf this site to be very informative but also Jwfacts.com and JWSurvery.org is very helpful too. There are some great books out on the market and Youtube videos about the truth about the JW's. The more you learn the happier your life will become. If you need some recommendations just private message me and I will recomment them for you.

There is a sister in her 80's who was called on at the WT study During the CO's visit. There was something about gay people in the study and she came right out and said that gays need to dress a certain way so we know who they are because she wanted to be able to identify them. I was so disgusted because no one corrected that statement.

The last DC we went to one of the speakears said "you should listen and do what the elders tell you to do". We left early because I couldn't sit in the hard seats but when I got in the car the first thing my husband said was that statement. He was so angry over it we did not go to the Sat or Sun program.
